Brazil’s World Cup qualification still hangs in the balance after a 2-2 draw with Uruguay.

This has raised concerns about the future of manager Dunga. Just as he is preparing for the Olympics, there are suggestions that he could at least be sacked from his role as the manager of the Olympics team in order to focus more on the senior team. Dunga recently held talks with Barcelona about the possibility of releasing Neymar for both the Olympics and the Copa America. This has been a difficult qualification campaign for Brazil after the team has managed to take only two wins from the opening six games.

The latest qualification matches finished as draws thus only increasing pressure on the manager. Dunga was so far able to escape with some dignity since top teams like Argentina were also struggling in their qualification campaign. However, Argentina have managed to turn around the corner by winning the last three games. They remain only two points from the top whereas Brazil are already a whopping four points behind. Dunga has reminded fans that all qualification campaigns are extremely tough and complicated and the latest one is no different. However, he remains confident as long as the future remains in the hands of his team.

“The beauty of football is that the next match ours is against the leader. It will always depend on ourselves. The heats itself, have always been complicated, from 82, 86, 90, 94... and this will be even more complicated. When I spoke after the last game (a 2-2 draw with Uruguay) we needed to have technical quality with the ball and we have to be more physical when we are without the ball, that was it.We must fight, as opponents do,” said the Brazil manager following the 2-2 draw with Paraguay.
