Brazil’s national team manager Luis Felipe Scolari said that the performance of Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho impressed him a lot.

The 30-year-old has been in the wilderness with regard to the Brazil national team. It has largely been because he has been playing in the Ukrainian league for several years. However, he has returned to the high-profile English Premier league with Manchester City in the summer. He was signed for £ 30 million by the Premier league outfit, who have been using him consistently as the defensive partner for Yaya Touré.

His performances have been impressive for City and it has helped them put up a challenge for the Premier league title. This would be only the second league title for the club, but they have been looking well-balanced in all areas of the pitch.

It is believed that Fernandinho is the primary reason for this, as the Brazilian has been able to dominate the centre of the park along with Yaya Touré. The 30-year-old was called up for the friendly match against South Africa. Brazil managed a 3-0 win in what would be the final chance for fringe players to get into the squad.
According to Scolari, Fernandinho has certainly taken his chances extremely well and it remains to be seen if he will be on the plane to Brazil in the summer.

"Fernandinho scored a beautiful goal but that was not the only thing I liked - also his effort, his good passes. I prefer to have problems like this than other issues. I wanted to see him in the second half playing alongside Luis Gustavo, who positions well. Fernandinho played well in all roles. He has now been added to the list of options for the World Cup with a good chance (of being called up)," said Scolari.
