Brazil managed Dunga believes that the national team’s star striker Neymar is now better than both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The latter have been regarded as the best in the world for quite a while now. They have had the FIFA Ballon d’Or award between each other for several successive seasons now. A major reason for their success has been the ability to stay injury free while also maintaining the goal scoring records. This, however, has been diminished quite significantly this season due to various reasons. Messi has been on the treatment table for a while now.

Ronaldo has scored eight goals in 11 matches, but his statistics look pretty ordinary when looking at the fact that five of those goals all came in one match. It is clear that Ronaldo and Messi have hit their peaks and are on the way down. The mantle is clearing up for the likes of Neymar to take over according to Dunga. The national team manager believes that the 23-year-old has done enough justice with his performances to suggest that he could be on his way to theFIFA Ballon d’Or crown. Neymar is the top scorer in the Primera division with 11 goals so far.

"If we look at the ranking by numbers and statistics, Neymar is superior right now. If we look at the ranking by numbers and statistics, Neymar is superior right now. Neymar has improved consistently since he arrived at Barcelona [in 2013]. He has done all that was expected of him with Messi out. He's in great form. We play Argentina at their home, they have great players, they were runners-up in the World Cup, they have 10 years' worth of work there,” said Dunga ahead of the World Cup qualifying match with Argentina. Brazil opened the World Cup qualification campaign with a defeat against Chile.
