Brazil recently appointed the former manager of the national team – Luiz Felipe Scolari – as a replacement for Mano Menezes, who was recently sacked after a string of poor results in major tournaments like the London Olympics 2012.

Luiz Felipe Scolari already has the experience of leading Brazil to a major title after he won the World Cup with the team back in 2002. Scolari took over the national team back in 2002 in similar circumstances, as they were struggling to get results. He is now expected to lead the team to another World Cup title given that this edition of the World Cup will be held at Brazil.

There have also been suggestions that Scolari will be looking to try and mould the Brazilian team to play like the Spanish club Barcelona. This is due to the presence of highly talented individuals like Oscar and Neymar. However, Scolari has rejected such suggestions by saying that he will be adopting his own style for the national team. Barcelona have been regarded as the best team in the world due to the way of football. Brazil have also been known as the best team in the world during the late 1970s and 1980s. However, they have not been as fluent in recent years, but Scolari is confident that they can win over the fans with their style of football.

"If we try to import players like Iniesta, Xavi and Messi, then we would play just like Barcelona. But these aren't anything like Brazilian players. We have to build a team that can play good football, but, at the same time, we must respect each player's characteristics. We have an identity, but we have to know what to do about the characteristics that every player can bring," said Scolari in his first press conference as the Brazil manager.
